COP26

• For nearly 30 years, the UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits - called COPs - which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’. 

• This year will be the 26th annual summit – giving it the name COP26. With the UK as President, COP26 takes place in Glasgow.

• As part of our sustainable transport plans, we are holding this competition to increase awareness of how our transport choices impact the environment and our health, and what we can do to help! 


GREENER TRANSPORT COMPETITION TASK:

We are asking pupils to design a logo, emblem or small design to show what they think a greener transport future looks like. This is being undertaken via the Junior Road Safety Officer programme, given that alternatives to car can be good for the environment and health as well as reducing risks. Therefore it would be good to focus on road transport: think bikes, buses and cars – not planes and ships!
