Seat Belt Design Competition 2018 - Deadline Extended!!
31 Jan 2018

Is your school participating in a brand new competition to design a logo and strapline or slogan to be the branding for national guidance and publicity to promote the wearing of seat belts? This will accompany a new law requiring them to be fitted to dedicated school transport from 2018.

Packs have been sent out to all primary schools, including independent and grant-aided schools with the aim to design a striking logo and snappy, memorable strapline, slogan or catchphrase with grabs attention, represents the campaign and can be used as the branding.

Some reference to seat belts is therefore key. This can either be through the image, through the wording, or both. A theme of safety is also crucial.

Beyond that pupils should use their imagination. The legislation is generally aimed at buses, so images or words about those vehicles are an option. As is anything to do with safety when travelling in a vehicle. However, there are no hard-and-fast rules on what to draw and we would like pupils to use their imagination and creativity.

A winner will be selected in March and an associated ceremony for the winning pupil and two runners up, their parents/carers and other appropriate representatives of the school, will take place in the Scottish Parliament towards the end of April following the Easter holidays.
