JRSO Inductions

19 Oct 2009

South Ayrshire held their annual JRSO Induction days in September to provide the adult helpers and new JRSO’s with lots of information and ideas to help them get started with their JRSO duties.

Each induction ran for two hours and within that time there were a number of activities and opportunities for everyone to learn more about the expectations and tasks relating to the JRSO role.

Over the seven sessions that ran, we covered inductions for 40 out of the 45 primary schools in South Ayrshire, with 123 JRSOs and 41 adult helpers attending in total.

The day took the format of two sessions. Session A and Session B, everyone had the opportunity to take part in both sessions.

Summer Notice Board

We have made a brilliant Summer Notice Board with help from some people mainly Scott Milne, Lewis Gauld and Chantelle Anderson. It looks fantastic! We also put the winners of our last competition where you had to draw and design your own Road Safety character.

St Bernadette's Slogan Competition

In February 2009, the JRSOs launched a slogan competition for safe travelling in the car. There was a great response and it was very difficult to choose the top 5.

However, the winning slogans were as follows:

Clunk, click, that's the trick.

You and your booster seat need to meet.

Don't disturb the driver if you want to be a survivor.

Click it or ticket.

If you want to be a star, wear a seatbelt in the car.

The 5 winners won a prize and a certificate and their slogans have also been entered in the North Lanarkshire competition. Good luck to all and thank you to everyone for entering.
