UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020
Well done to everyone who took part in the competition! It was clear that a lot of thought was given to the road safety message and design of each poster. Here are the winners and what the judges liked about each one!
Aberdeenshire
Fetterangus Primary School – distinctive design; good use of different creative techniques; simple but effective global road safety message
Maud School – Adam Smith and Lucas Strachan’s winning entry: one of the main global road safety message has been picked up. Nice use of text and colour. Nicely drawn illustration (We liked the school’s approach to colloborative efforts across primary classes, pairing younger and older pupils.)
East Dunbartonshire
Westerton Primary – well structured, with good clear global road safety messages. Good use of different text styles
Highland
Knockbreck Primary – good free-hand drawing of the map of the world showing road sand crashes; good slogan using the ‘Make Road Safe’ link; quirky and clever illustrations of the mozzie and Nessie holding the banner between them – excellent way of linking to serious global road safety issues
Central Primary – very colourful text and illustration; highlighting all the key global road safety messages but also including the JRSO and school link
North Ayrshire
St. Peter's Primary – striking, colourful design; highlighting a key global road safety message; very clever illustration of the vehicle bugs
North Lanarkshire
Newarthill Primary – displaying important road safety messages and linking to JRSOs; well illustrated and good use of colour; experimenting with different text designs
Renfrewshire
St Charles’ Primary – very striking, bold design and cleverly executed; a lot of thought given to the global road safety messages and all the illustrations; good use of the UN Decade symbol
Shetland Islands
Aith Junior High School – very well hand-drawn illustrations and well designed; very clear, and important message, in the children’s own words
South Ayrshire
